Anquinita “Nita” Cochran
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-S CANDIDATE, LPC, LCMHC, M.Ed., NCC)
My name is Anquinita “Nita” Cochran and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of South Carolina (SC) and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina (NC). I have been working as a professional counselor for about five years now and I love what I do.
I got my start working with adolescents in middle schools as an after-school counselor where I provided youths with social, emotional, and academic supports. I loved my role so much so that I wanted to solidify my position further in assisting students and their families with life’s changes. Hence, I attended The Citadel Graduate College and obtained my Masters of Education in Counselor Education with Specialization in Secondary Education.
After being awarded my degree, I worked in positions that were awarding, challenging, and yet fulfilling. As a new counselor, I was able to further my abilities to ensure that these young people and their families were secure emotionally and mentally in their life’s transition. Furthermore, my works ignited a realization that I needed to broaden my abilities to be able to assist ALL of those in need by helping to alleviate daily ails when and wherever possible. I obtained my Licensed Professional Counseling credential for SC in 2016 to be able to do so. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have gained the ability to address, treat, and lessen a millieu of concerns and issues suffered by clients from adolescents to adulthood. I would love the opportunity to consult and forge a therapeutic relationship where I can address, treat, and lessen your ails in hopes that you are able to return back to those things that bring joy and fulfillment to your life.
Allese Renee
My name is Allese Renee. I am from Virginia and have traveled to many states. I have always worked in the humanities field. My approach is eclectic, meaning I am familiar with many theories and apply the best approach depending on the client’s needs. Sometimes that might mean narrative therapy one day and psychodynamic another day. I believe the client is the expert of their care and I am an assistant or guide with specialized knowledge. When requested, I tailor my approach with a Christian, non-denominational lens. This means I can pray during or after the session with the client, we reference God regarding the presenting issue and sometimes use Bible passages when applicable.Because I am a trained art therapist, I can introduce art into the session. If the client is opposed, we are not obligated to do art. Art therapy entails using media such as photography, pastels, clay, metals, words/poetry/books, acting, dancing and other creative expressions. However, there is still processing in that session just as in a talk therapy session. Personally, I love to read, write poetry, create new cooking recipes, and make art. I traveled around the US before landing in South Carolina. And, I love animals!
I earned my bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University, VA, majoring in Park, Recreation and Tourism Studies. I minored in art and psychology. I earned my master’s degree from Southwestern College, NM, majoring in Art Therapy and Counseling.
I hold credentials as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Provisional Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I have worked in multiple settings with populations such as special needs, youth and adults, teens in crisis and geriatrics providing play and creative arts
therapies. I can provide a worldview approach. I have been trained under trauma informed care and evidence based practices.
